B.S. Wisniewski's Custom Hearing Instruments in Elm Grove, WI and Greenfield, WI is making strides toward eliminating hearing loss worldwide. On January 18th B. Scott Wisniewski, owner of B.S. Wisinewski’s Custom Hearing Centers, attended mass at St. Anthony On The Lake and learned of a girl from Piura, Peru, named Ioto. At just 14-years-old Ioto is an orphan, living near the sister parish to St. Anthony’s, with a profound hearing loss. In a recent fire at the orphanage, Ioto lost her connection to the world when her hearing aids were destroyed. Having served the hearing community for over 25 years, Wisniewski knew that hearing loss not only impacts communication, but relationships and quality of life. He then began working with the parish and Peruvian hearing specialists to get Ioto a set of hearing aids, free of charge.
Ioto’s sponsor, Donna Alferi, who first notified the parish of Ioto’s situation, said of Wisniewski’s donation, “What is so beautiful is that [during the mission to Peru] I almost didn’t go to the orphanage, and would never have met Ioto or known what was going on. But God arranged for me to get on the van at the last minute! Now the rest is history! When you meet Ioto, you immediately know that she is a very special young lady. Her smile says it all, you can’t help but love her. Thank you so much for giving Ioto the beautiful gift of hearing.”
On February 17th, 2015, Ioto’s new hearing aids were sent to Peru. Wisniewski says, “It’s humbling to know you can make a huge change in someone’s life. We are just happy to help her.” B.S.
